About SENA

Sindhi Engineers of North America (SENA) is an officially approved committee of the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), created to inspire, connect, and empower Sindhi-origin engineers across North America while strengthening engineering education and innovation in Sindh.

SENA was conceptualised and founded by Akash K. Ramani, Finance Secretary of SANA and an electrical engineer, with the vision of building a global, structured platform where Sindhi engineers can grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to the development of Sindh.

Today, SENA is led by its Chair, Engr. Iqbal Tareen, a senior engineer, former SANA President, and respected community leader. Under his leadership, SENA is being shaped into a long-term, sustainable Human Capital, Science, and Technology platform for the Sindhi community.

Mission and Purpose

SENA’s mission is to uplift Sindhi engineers in North America through professional development, mentorship, and entrepreneurship—while supporting engineering students in Sindh through scholarships, training, and academic collaboration.

Its long-term vision is to support 500+ engineering students by 2035 through sustained scholarships, mentorship, and institutional partnerships.

Key Achievements and Initiatives

01

Institutional Foundation

SENA has established a landmark two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mehran University Alumni Association (MUAA).

This agreement formalizes:

  • Scholarships and student support
  • Mentorship and career guidance
  • Research and academic collaboration
  • Governance standards and compliance
  • A scalable, accountable framework for long-term impact

This MoU transforms volunteer goodwill into a structured institutional model that can grow year after year.

02

Scholarship Impact – Year One

SENA successfully launched its scholarship program and awarded 20 scholarships in its first year:

  • 10 scholarships – MUET SZAB Campus, Khairpur
  • 10 scholarships – MUET Jamshoro

These scholarships represent the first milestone toward the 500+ student target and validate SENA’s operational model.

03

Adopt-a-Student Model (2027 Onward)

SENA has introduced a sustainable Adopt-a-Student sponsorship model, where Sindhi engineers in North America directly support one or more engineering students in Sindh.

Key features include:

  • Donors select vetted students based on merit and socio-economic need
  • Direct sponsorship ensures transparency and accountability
  • Encourages long-term donor–student relationships
  • Reduces reliance on centralized fundraising
  • Enables personal mentorship and career guidance

This model shifts scholarships from one-time donations to sustained, relationship-based support.

04

Monthly Webinar Series – Skills for 2050

SENA has launched a comprehensive 12-month webinar calendar covering future technologies and engineering trends, including:

  • AI, AGI, and Machine Learning
  • Cloud and Cybersecurity
  • Robotics and Smart Infrastructure
  • Renewable Energy
  • Quantum Computing
  • Digital Transformation

These webinars are:

  • Delivered by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from North America
  • Streamed globally
  • Played live in engineering universities across Sindh
  • Widely appreciated by students, professionals, and faculty

This program creates a direct academic bridge between diaspora experts and institutions in Sindh.
